A color print isn't one picture. It's three see-through layers of dye stacked on white paper, and each layer has exactly one job: to subtract one color of light before it bounces back to your eye. The three dyes were never equally stable, so they don't fade at the same rate — and whichever one gives out first decides what color the whole photo drifts toward.
